Mateja Režek, PhD

I obtained my PhD in History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana in 2000 with the dissertation on the political reforms in Yugoslavia in the 1950s. Between 1995 and 2006, I was employed at the Institute of Contemporary History in Ljubljana, and between 2007 and 2016, at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska, where I lectured in contemporary world history and the history of the Balkans. Since 2012, I have been employed as a Senior Research Associate at the Science and Research Centre Koper. My main field of research is the political and diplomatic history of the Cold War and Socialist Yugoslavia, in recent years especially Yugoslavia’s foreign policy, religious politics, censorship, the politicization of history in school textbooks and other topics. I have authored two monographs, numerous articles and book chapters, and two contemporary history textbooks.
