Karlo Ružičič Kessler

Karlo Ruzicic-Kessler studied history and political science at the Universities of Fribourg and Vienna (PhD 2011). He has been a research fellow at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the University of Vienna, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and the University of Fribourg. He is currently a Senior Researcher at the Department of Contemporary History of the University of Fribourg. Since January 2024, he is a research fellow at the ZRS Koper. He has collaborated in and led multiple research projects on international and transnational history in Europe, the history of communism, and the history of border regions during the Cold War. Karlo Ruzicic-Kessler has authored one research monograph and co-authored another. He has co-edited multiple volumes and special issues of international journals. He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals in English, German and Italian and is a reviewer for international journals and historical societies. He is a member of the editorial board of Geschichte und Region/Storia e Regione, and a member of Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Geschichte, Società Italiana per lo Studio della Storia Contemporanea, Società Italiana per la Storia Contemporanea dell’Area di Lingua Tedesca.
