Dr. Marco Abram was one of the scholars awarded with the 2025 Nationalities Papers Photography Prize in Nationalism and Ethnic Studies

The photo, taken during fieldwork, was accompanied by a brief description of how it relates to Dr. Abram’s field of studies and was judged based on content, synthesis, and visually compelling insights about nationalism, ethnicity and migration.

The selection committee was comprised of Zeynep Bulutgil (UCL, UK), Mila Dragojević (Sewanee: The University of the South, US), Julie George (CUNY, US) and Annelle Sheline (Rice U, US).

The award-winning photo will be printed on one of the covers of Nationalities Papers during 2026.
