Cross-border Stories in the Railway Underpass: NEVER MIND THE BORDERS

Nova Gorica and Gorizia – The exhibition Never Mind The Borders – People, Spaces, and Cross-Border Practices between the Alps and the Adriatic, locatedin the underpass of the Nova Gorica railway station, is officially open.

The exhibition presents everyday cross-border practices in the Alps-Adriatic region during the Cold War, featuring stories of friendship, smuggling, television, hunting, nudism, and more.
The exhibited photographs, accompanied by descriptions in Slovene, Italian, and English, will be on display until the end of this year. They are also accessible via a digital platform at this link, available in Slovene, Italian, English, German, Friulian, and Croatian.

The exhibition is the result of the project “Open Borders”, led by Borut Klabjan and funded by the European Research Council under the ERC Advanced Grant Funding Scheme.

Among the many guests at Friday’s opening were the mayor of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel, and the program director of the GO!2025 Institute, Stojan Pelko. The event, which was also accompanied by a scientific workshop and a roundtable discussion, is organised by ZRS Koper and is part of the European Capital of Culture 2025, jointly hosted by Nova Gorica and Gorizia.
