02/06/2026

Principal Investigator Borut Klabjan undertook a working visit to Beijing and Shanghai in the second half of May 2026. In Beijing, he delivered a guest lecture at Capital Normal University, where he presented the phenomenon of open borders and alternative perceptions of the Cold War dynamics in the context of the Upper Adriatic from a global perspective. At the same university, he also participated in the First China–Balkan Cultural Exchange Forum.

In Shanghai, together with Jože Pirjevec and Jure Ramšak, he attended a working meeting with members of the Academy of History and Documentation of Socialism at East China Normal University. Drawing on a related research project on cross-border interactions in the People’s Republic of China, the participants identified a number of potential themes for future comparative research.
