The MAPPING Memories of Good Will conference focuses on selected geographical and temporal conflict zones in Southeast Europe, including regions such as the areas between Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia; Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia; as well as Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece. The conference aims to place these regions within a broader historical context, shedding light on existing peace initiatives and innovative mediation formats through an interdisciplinary approach.
PI Borut Klabjan and project team members Urška Strle and Jure Ramšak took part in the conference Mapping Memories of Good Will: On Interethnic Solidarity in Southeast Europe, which took place on 6 December 2024 in the Senate Hall of Humboldt University and was jointly organised by the Federal Agency for Civic Education and Humboldt University in Berlin. They presented their research insights gained as part of the Open Borders project at the panel discussion “Establishing and Overcoming a Tragic Border Demarcation: Trieste and the Yugoslav, Slovenian and Italian Border Regions from the 20th Century to the Present”, moderated by Prof Dr Hannes Grandits. The novelty that the Open Borders project brings to the understanding of the Cold War in Europe was also presented by Borut Klabjan during the specially organised workshop, which attracted a great deal of attention from academics, students and a wide audience.
